FaceLab Comes To PS 17Q
School communities are all in agreement that success does not begin or end in the classroom. Parent and community involvement is essential to strong schools, supported teachers and successful students. FaceLab is a community engagement project that seeks to break down barriers to parent engagement to ensure that children thrive in school. PS 17 was selected to roll out this pilot program in hopes of being able to recreate this engagement model in schools in districts across the city.

PS 17Q was the only school outside of Manhattan chosen to participate in Rosie's Kids Theater program. We are so honored that our school was able to be a part of this extraordinary program. After our final show it was announced that Rosie's Kids was awarding one of our fifth grade students with a scholarship. Thank you so much for bringing this program to our school it was a great experience.
PBIS stands for Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports. PBIS is a positive, proactive approach to dealing with behavior. Students are given a clear set of expectations based upon behavioral goals chosen by the staff and administration. Find out how PS17 is using the PBIS program. I am sure you have seen the RISE logo all around school this year and that is because this program is very important for our children at PS 17. Please encourage your children to do their best and earn the tickets thus reinforcing the hard work that is happening at the school both by the children and all the staff.
